The Steve Smith groove?

I've noticed this a lot, and assuming you lot have the same kinda listening patterns as i do, i reckon you will too.

Can someone tab it out, cos it's a wicked groove. He uses it loads, like here, in Journey, Vital Information, VTT etc.

All I know is it's a shuffle type groove where you drag your left hand for offbeat doubles throughout it... carter beauford does this too. Then it goes into a rushed double paradiddle groove on the hats/ride into single paradiddle groove and some cool stuff after that... I like that little melodic fill right after that section [img]smile.gif[/img]

I also like how Smitty Smith looks juat like Steve Erkle from Family Matters!!!

I don't know about rushed, but what I DON'T like is how Smitty keeps NOT letting Steve Smith finish his phrases before interrupting...or so it seems to me...

What year was this? Looked early 90's. Steve seemed to be more in the style of Journey than today. He put his body into some of those fills and patterns. I just watched his new DVD the other day and his control doesn't seem to go that way anymore. Not a bad thing...just different.
